INDIRECT STRATEGY of Information Processing Model

 (Inquiry)

Lesson Plan Checklist

Teacher’s Name

Grade Level, Lesson Duration

Topic

Lesson Framework Overview - explain the reason and the meaning of the use of Indirect strategy of IP model for teaching this lesson; include a brief description of the topic, the major concepts, the place of the lesson in the series of other lessons in the Unit plan, etc. (In other words, explain: What will be taught, how the content will be delivered, and why so.)

Provide 2 Goals on:

            1. The content;

            2. The Development of the information processing skills.

STANDARDS:  align the goals with the appropriate National and NY L Standards, + Performance Indicators (choose those PI that will be addressed in your lesson plan).

Objectives (CBC) – 2 Objectives with high level of Bloom’s taxonomy verbs!

    Lesson Implementation:

1.      Anticipatory SET

·        Exploratory character of the activity/puzzling  event (examine data &/or view a puzzling event)

                2.   Objective and Purpose told to Students:

·   Find patterns or make hypotheses explain why it’s important to learn how to inquire and do the authentic project)

3.   DEVELOPMENT of the Lesson

Indicate the usage of Information Process Model methods. (Concept Formation, Concept Attainment, Case Study, Inquiry,

Problem Solving, Simulation, etc.)

·         Describe  how you will communicate the structure/organization of searching for data, and exploration of the information, how you will ecourage students to apply patterns and/or ways of making hypotheses, ways of testing hypotheses, form concepts and generalizations.

4.  Guided Practice/Monitoring Inquiry process

·         How you will help the students to follow the steps of inquiry.

5.        Closure - Meta-cognitive Moment (Remember, for two goals expect two learning outcomes) describe:

·         How you will check students’ learning of the content and

·         How you will encourage students to examine the thought processes used to investigate and how they drew their final conclusions

6.        Assessment (3 types of tools)

·         Explain: how you will check each student’s mastery of the objective, with the help of what? - designed Rubric? Checklists? Worksheets on assigned projects?

7.        Independent practice (In class/or home)

·        What activities you will use for applying new concepts in a new situation.

8.      Critique Questions

·         Are the self-directed questions geared to check the effects of chosen activities, techniques, handouts, worksheets in regard with impacting students’ engaged learning?

·         Are your questions based on the steps of Indirect Strategy of IP Model, (Inquiry method): do they ask about the value and the content of the puzzling activity; the effectiveness of the teacher’s support of students’ inquiry; ways of independent work; techniques of encouraging meta-cognitive thought, critical analysis, etc.
